What are the most common causes of concrete cracking?
There are several different types of concrete cracks. The most common is related to the natural shrinkage of concrete as it cures and dries. Shrinkage cracking is controlled by following proper control jointing techniques. These cracks are expected and often “hidden” in the control joints. This is a normal part of the process of concrete slabs, patios, driveways and walkways. A certain amount of cracking is certain to occur, but this is the reason control joints are used.
