What are the minimum standards for evaluating writing?

0

As “W” courses are an important part of the total writing program at BSC, every piece of formal writing submitted in a “W” course should meet the following minimum standards articulated in the catalog, as appropriate to the course and to the nature of the assignment. These standards reflect and build on the skills studies in CWP 101 and 102: 1. Clearly stated purpose/main idea/thesis; 2. Adequate support/proof/development of the main idea(s); 3. Clear and logical organization; 4. Complete sentences and standard usage of grammar, punctuation and spelling; 5. Correct documentation (interior documentation, references and/or bibliography) in a format appropriate to the field; 6. Evidence of critical thinking.
