What are the minimum GRE and TOEFL (or IELTS) scores required?
A longstanding department requirement is that the general test is required with a minimum of 700 on the quantitative portion and a minimum sum (Q + V) of 1100. The test must have been taken in the last five (5) years. The Mathematics Subject test is not a requirement, but may be submitted to augment the application. The test is easy (though costly) to retake these days, from most locations, and sample test practice and/or preparation using online materials and retaking is recommended for students whose scores are not good. The absolute minimum TOEFL scores allowed for admission consideration are an 80 on the IBT or a 550 on the paper based test; the minimum required score for IELTS is a 6.5.
