What are the micro-inserts made of?
Dr. Rudo: The micro-inserts are made of polyester fibers and metals—nickel-titanium and stainless steel. This procedure is not the first time these materials have been used in the body. Heart stents and valves are two of the medical devices made of nickel-titanium and stainless steel. If you’re allergic to nickel, however, you shouldn’t have the micro-inserts. A simple skin test can confirm a suspected nickel allergy.
