Answers101 Feb 18th, 2006 Speaking as a Methodist myself, our beliefs regarding salvation are that there is only one way to get into Heaven and that is by accepting Jesus as our Saviour. We outwardly confirm our acceptance as Jesus as our Saviour by being baptized. We also believe that you can’t get into Heaven by good works alone. However, by accepting Jesus as our Saviour and everyone who does as well, will follow Jesus’ example by trying to perform good works and when our good works fail because we sin, then we ask for Jesus’ forgiveness and try not to commit the same sin again. Here is scriptural evidence supporting the “saved by grace” doctrines that we, as Methodists uphold: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, King James Version Bible). “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans
