What are the maximum loan and work-study amounts?
The maximums for 2007-2008 are: Federal Work-Study for the Summer quarter: $4,000 Federal Work-Study for the academic year: $4,500 Federal Perkins Loan: $4,500 Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan: $8,500 Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: $12,000 unless Subsidized Stafford eligibility is less than $8,500. You may borrow a combined total Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loan amount of $20,500. Federal Graduate PLUS Loan: The cost of attendance (COA) or standard student budget minus ALL other assistance. Note: This loan is based on credit-worthiness. Alternative Loan: The COA or standard student budget minus ALL other assistance, if you apply through the University of Chicago Alternative Loan Program. Some lenders have lower maximums.
