Master/slave jumpering determines a drive’s priority on a cable. If the drive is alone on a cable, it should be jumpered as a single drive, pins 3 and 5. If there are two drives on the cable, then it must be jumpered as either a master using pins 5 and 6, or as a slave using pins 3 and 4.
