If the facility chooses, these wastes may also be treated as for clinical waste (or cytotoxic waste where the waste has been generated by a person receiving cytotoxic drug treatment). Design requirements for the respective storage containers are set out in Schedule 4 of the Environmental Protection (Waste Management) Regulation 2000. Treatment and disposal process requirements are set out in Schedule 5.
