What are the malfunctions for a dodge intrepid to crank over sometimes when starting the car?

I have a probelm with my dodge intrepid whenever i turn my ignition it doesnt turn over i have to keep turning it to start what are some malfunctions or advice what is wrong. A: If the engine doesn’t *turn over* (as opposed to cranking but not starting) consistently when you turn the key, it could be a loose connection, the starter solenoid or motor is going bad, or the switch in the ignition is failing. If power is getting to the solenoid/starter motor, you should hear an audible click when you turn the key – that will tell you it’s not the ignition switch. There are also safety switches that prevent you from starting the car if the car is in gear or if it’s a manual, when the clutch is engaged. The safety switches can fail.
