What are the major differences between the bass and contrabass clarinets?
Answer Adam, The contrabass clarinet is a lower pitched instrument than the bass clarinet. The bass clarinet usually doubles the tuba an octave higher or will double the 3rd teombone or baritone. The contrabass clarinet will double the tuba at the same pitch. Bands and orchestras use it for special effects. Hope this helps.
