The military, other government agencies such as the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service and the school districts are among the largest employers in El Paso. Other major businesses are the cities community colleges, defense businesses, retail sales, wholesale, manufacturing, trade, service industry, healthcare and agriculture. In neighboring Juarez, the maquiladora manufacturing industry continues to boom.
