What are the main things children will learn in kindergarten?
The Kindergarten year is a year of exciting changes and development. Children learn to love school, to feel like capable students and to grow socially and emotionally confident. The curriculum for Kindergarten is driven by the State Standards. Kindergarten students will learn vocabulary development, concepts about print (the parts of a book, reading from left to right, distinguish letters from words, etc), phonics, comprehension strategies, be able to write brief sentences, simple addition and subtraction, estimation, classify objects, and make decisions about how to set up a problem.
