What are the main stages of dementia?
Doctors often describe Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, as progressing in three stages: • Early-stage or mild dementia. • Middle-stage or moderate dementia. • Late-stage or severe dementia. Other types of dementia, such as vascular dementia, are more likely to worsen in a series of steps, and in these cases it may be more helpful to talk about only early and late stages.
