What are the main sources of information about the history of Pawtucket?
There are several current general sources of information for the general reader. The first is A History of Pawtucket 1635-1986, Edited by Susan M. Boucher published by Pawtucket Public Library and reprinted as a second edition in 1987. This is a general work with the emphasis on the 20 th century. For a work that describes the history and architecture of Pawtucket, we would recommend the Statewide Historical Preservation Report P-PA-2, Pawtucket, Rhode Island published by the Rhode Island Historical Preservation Commission,) October 1978. Reprinted in 1989. Copies can be purchased from the Preservation Society of Pawtucket for $15.00 mailing included. For a more detailed look a early Pawtucket we would recommend; History of Pawtucket, Rhode Island – Reminiscences of the Reverend David Benedict – Origins of Pawtucket, East Side. Spaulding House Library, 1886. The book also has an annotated index. The Annotated Index – Reminiscences and New Series of Rev. David Benedict. Spaulding House
