What are the main similarities and differences between christian and islamic beliefs?
As I have no intention of ending up having to write a book here, I shall just mention the most critically important difference. Christianity kills stone dead the idea that sinful humans can ‘do things’ to earn God’s forgiveness and acceptance. That is because it is based upon the Hebrew scriptures, which show how God’s perfect law was designed to prove to God’s covenant people that their sin created a huge gulf between them and the Holy God, who alone could bridge that gap. When Jesus emptied himself of his heavenly glory alongside the Father and the Holy Spirit to be born as the baby of Bethlehem, his mission was to end animal sacrifices by perfectly keeping the law and thus fulfilling it. Because he remained sinless, he could then be the perfect once-for-all-time human sacrifice (willingly offering himself) that would take away the sin of the world. It is only by putting faith in what Jesus did that anybody can be brought into God’s spiritual family. Such faith means agreeing with Go
