What are the main problems with Aikido training method compared to Judo or Boxing ?
Aikido training method is not “live sparring”. There’s a degree of cooperation involved. This allows an individual instructor to enforce a set of rules in the dojo which can vary from reality a great deal. They can create their own “Matrix” of sorts, where some behaviors get encouraged, others get discouraged, and martial context of the art gets lost in the process. Some Aikido dojos go completely wack – right into the land of Yellow Bamboo. If you haven’t heard about Yellow Bamboo, it is a discipline that will allow you to make people fall from 30 feet away without touching them, by using your chi. There are many shameful Aikido demonstrations floating around where the attackers get thrown with the instructor’s “chi”. Sometimes they even flip over themselves backwards in their eagerness to be affected by their instructor’s chi. In other demonstrations, the “attackers” do attack, but they are very eager to either run through the instructor with their arms outstretched or run directly p
