I think as Dan said, the Comedia dell arte regroups most characters. They’re often vulgarized caricatures of sexes, ages or social genres. If you include other authors such as Moliere, Beaumarchais or Shakespeare, you can add The 2 lovers (Romeo and juliet) The maiden/servant (Figaro) The authority ( duke, king, constable…) The young monarch/prince ( Hamlet) The buffoon (harlequin) The mischevious character who wants to be the monarch.
