What are the main languages AND dialects in Hong Kong and Taiwan?
Hong Kong: the official languages are Cantonese (the dominant one) and English. People use Cantonese in everyday life. But you’ll see a lot of things like letters and store signs (I would say 95% of them) in English. Taiwan: Mandarin. Lots of people speak Taiwanese at home. But I notice that many younger generations only speak mandarin and don’t know much Taiwanese even though their parents speak Taiwanese to each other all the time.
