What are the main employers duties for Injury Management and Return to Work after a workers compensation injury?
What to do after an injury As soon as the Employer becomes aware of an injury, the following steps must be taken: • In the case of a possible SIGNIFICANT INJURY, notify your workers compensation insurer within 48 hours of becoming aware of the injury; • In the case of an injury that is probably not significant, notify the workers compensation insurer within 7 days of becoming aware of an injury that does not appear to be significant; • For significant injuries, participation in the creation of an Injury Management Plan with the workers compensation insurer and the nominated treating doctor. Once that plan is finalised, you must comply with it; • Formulation of a Return to Work Plan that is consistent with the Injury Management Plan; • The employer must send an injured workers claim form, and any other document received in respect of that claim, to the workers compensation insurer within 7 days of receiving that document.
