What are the main doctrinal differences between Lutherans and Baptists?
Though on the whole Lutherans and Baptists are thought to be fairly different in theology and doctrinal practice there are places where some groups are closer to each other than others. I’ll try to explain a little bit of this but it is a much wider issue that can be treated here. First we have to deal with the idea of what makes someone, or causes someone to be saved. For most Baptist churches being saved requires some type of public profession of faith and participation in what is known by some as the “BELIEVERS BAPTISM”. This is the idea that you have to know why you are being baptized and/or that you are being baptized because you are accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Essentially what this means is that if you are going to be baptized you need to know what you are getting into.
