There are many different types of Special Forces in both the US and UK and each is trained for different specialities- such as the SAS for hostage rescue and land based warfare where as SBS will be based on assault by sea (or air to sea). The US have a similar structure with the SEALS dealing with assault by sea and the HRT (Hostage Rescue Team) trainning in hostage rescue in buildings. The US special forces training system is derived from the UK one. Our Troops are far more autonomous though and rely more on technique and brainpower than our American cousins. Ours will also happily travel without air con and a coca cola truck.
