What are the main differences between the DriveRack 480 and 4800?
The major difference is that the 4800 utilizes a new networking and control protocol called Hi-QNet over either Ethernet or RS232. Devices in a Hi-QNet system can include not only the 4800, but other Harman products that are Hi-QNet compatible such as new products by JBL, CROWN, and AKG. When all devices are networked, they can each be edited using a newer computer GUI interface called System Architect. The former 480 series still use the DriveWare graphic user interface. The 4800 also added 2 AES/EBU digital inputs (4 channels) and 4 AES/EBU digital outputs (8 channels) and a word clock input. Optional dbx ZC (Zone Controller) wall panel controls can also be implemented via the onboard RJ45 connectors using straight through CAT5 cables. Each RJ45 can address 6 ZC’s for a total of 12.
