DirecTV & Dish Network have fairly similar programming lineups and offer a similar HD package, although DirecTV has certain exclusive pay-per-view sports packages like the NFL Sunday ticket that may be of interest. It used to be that DirecTV was the easier service to use when all programming originated from a single satellite location and required less sophisticated antennas to receive. Now both providers broadcast from multiple satellites, so that advantage no longer exists for customers wanting HD reception. Today, if you choose DirecTV for your HD service you are limited to stationary use only with a pop-up style, open dish system. With Dish Network you have the option to receive all available HD programming while stationary or in-motion.
