What are the main contents of Pakistan Food?
Pakistani food is much like Indian food, but features more meat (about three times as much average consumption). The meats are beef, goat, lamb, and chicken. No pork, as the country is almost entirely Islamic. The meals usually include bread and/or rice but can also include potatoes. The various breads are mostly flat breads. The rice is usually basmatic. Lentils, called daal, are another staple food and source of protein. Vegetables include bitter gourd (also called bitter melon), cauliflower, eggplant, okra, cabbage, potatoes, rutabaga, spinach, and mustard greens. The meats and vegetables are usually prepared in a curry, which can vary from highly spiced in the eastern areas to milder and more aromatic in the northwest.
