What are the London Dungeons?
The London Dungeons is part exhibition, part theatre show. You go in groups of about 25 and are guided through each room by a different costumed character. it can be truly scary, especially the sweeney todd room where the whole thing is in pitch black. My 6 year old daughter won’t even let me mention the word dungeon because she was so traumatised. if you like a good scare and are over 10 then you will probably enjoy it. They do ask for quite a lot of audience participation to take part in the torture demonstrations, being in the dock with the judge etc. There is a boat ride as part of it which is like a ghost train on water and a hanging drop ride at at the very end before they force you out through the gift shop. I didn’t think it was appropriate for young children, esp the section on Jack the Ripper. The tour lasts about an hour but if you don’t get there early, you could easily spend another hour queueing to get in.
