What are the limitations of traditional theories on employee motivation?
1) It seems that majority of widely known motivational theories are of American origin and their applicability in other parts of the world is questionable. 2) Most of the traditional theories research methodologies do not distinguish between different genders and cultures. 3) Today at the time of increased globalization, lots of people seek employment in other countries and it seems that their prime motivator is higher wages, thus conclusions of some theories that money is not prime motivator is dubious.
