WHAT ARE THE LIFE LESSONS IN THE BOOK?
We all know youngsters experience many tough issues in life. Physical disabilities, bullying in school, divorce, “being different” – these situations can affect a child’s self-esteem, emotional growth, and attitude in life. Sage’s Big Adventure speaks to many of these circumstances. Sage is blind (disability), and therefore, she is “different” from “normal” dogs. She is adopted by a new family and goes to live with them (change). She has trouble adjusting to the changes in her life at first (fear), but, by the end of the book, Sage has overcome many obstacles. Sage teaches children how to adapt to change, face challenges, and experience triumphs. Because she is a real dog, not a make-believe storybook character, children better relate to the many experiences Sage faces. Self-esteem, courage, determination, overcoming obstacles, disability awareness – these are all great life lessons children learn from Sage’s Big Adventure! *Click here to Read an excerpt from Sage’s Big Adventure!
