What are the licensure requirements for internationally educated Paramedics?
An Individual Equivalency Process is required for those applicants who are graduates of an EMR program not approved by the Alberta College of Paramedics, individuals trained in provinces and/or territories that do not have a governing body and, out-of-country applicants. There are three areas of practice regulated by the Alberta College of Paramedics. They are: Emergency Medical Responder (EMR); Emergency Medical Technician – (EMT); and Emergency Medical Technologist – Paramedic (EMT-P). Applicants are required to apply to the Alberta College of Paramedics and submit the required documents found on the ACP website under Submission Guidelines for Substantial Equivalency. Documents that are not in English must be translated. The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta provides translation services.
