What are the lenses made of?

We use lightweight CR39 1.49 index plastic lenses for most of our glasses. Most lenses sold today are made of plastic as they are much lighter than glass lenses. 1.49 index lenses are perfect for most prescriptions – but if your prescription is more than +3.00 or -3.00, you may want to consider thinner lenses.

We supply lightweight CR39 plastic lenses for the majority of our glasses. For our Rimless Frames we recommend that you upgrade to lightweight polycarbonate lenses. For our thin lenses we use lightweight resin high-index lenses. ALL of our lenses come complete with a FREE hard anti-scratch coating. Our thin high-index lenses also come with a free anti-reflective coating as standard.
