There are certain preliminary requirements that must be met in order to initiate a Dissolution of Marriage proceeding. One of the parties must have lived in Indiana for at least six (6) months prior to filing and in the County in which they file for the prior three (3) months. The Petitioner, or the person filing the divorce, only needs to allege that there are irreconcilable differences between husband and wife for the divorce to proceed.
