What are the legal requirements and to marry in Mexico?
There are two types of ceremonies performed in Mexico: the Civil Ceremony and the Non Denominational or symbolic Ceremony. The Civil Ceremony is the only option that will make your marriage legal in Mexico and the rest of the world. Performed by a Spanish speaking justice of the peace (translation is available), this legal ceremony will change your marital status from single to married. Requirements of a Civil Ceremony: • Copies of your Birth Certificates, sent to our office upon confirmation of your wedding date • Lab work completed in the State in which you are getting married (Baja California Sur) • Copy of your Tourist Immigration Form (you receive these on the plane) • The first and last page of your Divorce decree, if applicable.
