What are the leading fashion trends for fall?
Julia McEwen: Fur ran wild down the catwalks in all the major fashion centres. This ultra-luxe, cosy and chic style was the dominant trend. If wearing fur is against your moral code, it doesn’t mean you can’t partake in this trend: Faking it with faux fur is just as fashionable. It was seen at Michael Kors, Chanel, Lanvin and Ralph Lauren. Ninties minimalism has made its way onto the runways, too. Sleek tailoring and modern restraint reigned this season. A strong less-is-more mentality is popular when wearing this style, which is streamlined and almost completely black. Fancy military was a big trend for spring/summer, but rather than an army green field jacket, it’s been made more ornate for fall. The military vibe was inspired by the 1700s and 1800s, with opulent brocades and gilded embellishments. Maxi skirts were seen everywhere. The hems are finally dropping – and dropping fast! Floor-length skirts were a big departure from the ultra-minis seen last season. CL.com: What’s hot when
