Vehicles can be towed from private property provided it’s properly posted at all entrances of the complex that receive vehicle traffic. This is per California Vehicle Code section 22658-(a). The signs on display must be in plain view and not less than 17 by 22 inches in size. With lettering not less than one inch in height, prohibiting public parking and indicating that vehicles will be removed at the owners expense. The signs must also display the telephone number and name of the local law enforcement agency. In the case of the City of Stanton, it would be the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (714) 647-7000. If you have any questions concerning this procedure, please contact Stanton Code Enforcement at (714) 379-9222 ext 220.
