What are the laws concerning students working with no visa for 3 months in Ireland?
Myself and another American student are working as “Interns” at the Malton Hotel in Killarney, Ireland for the summer, however things aren’t working out here as we expected. We were told we would be provided with accomodations in an apartment, 3 meals provided per day, and 50 euro per week. We were told the maximum hours we would be working would be 39-42, and that we would be shadowing management. We have been here for over two weeks and have not been provided an apartment yet, work on average 50 hours per week (with no pay increase for the extra hours), and have been working as waitresses rather than interns. On top of all of this the provided food has made us sick numerous times. We feel as though we are being treated unfairly and need some advice and legal information regarding our rights in Ireland as students with no visa.
