What are the laws behind speed cameras as speeding?
If your area is using speed cameras, the laws regarding them can be found at your local dmv, assuming you are in the US. As far as not say anything because you dont want to incriminate yourself, thats the 5th amendment, and also the Miranda laws. ‘You have the right to remain SILENT. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law………..’ In my area, we had red light cameras, but no speeding cams. But the city had contracted a third party to process the video and distribute tickets. The tickets were sent to the registered owner of the car. My aunt fought one and won. Her sister had the car and was the one that ran the red light. She simply called and threw a fit and threatened civil suit if she had to pay the ticket. They let it go. After many cases like that, they just quit using the cams for tickets.
