Usually SmartMedia cards should be delivered with a title label and a few silver circular stickers. Use of the title label is optional; to help you remember what is on the card. The silver circular stickers are used to stop accidental erasure/overwriting of the card (similar to the switch found on a floppy disk). On the front of the Smartmedia card is a circular indentation. Apply a silver circular sticker to the centre of this indentation if you want to write protect the card. Simply remove the sticker if you need to write to the card again.
