What are the key dates in the implementation of the licensure program?
September 1, 2001: The Texas Geoscience Practice Act became effective. August 31, 2003: Last day for receipt, by the Board, of license applications under the “grandfathering” provision. For applications submitted after this date, applicants are required to pass a Board-approved examination. For Geology, the approved examination is through the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG); for Soil Science, the Council of Soil Science Examiners (CSSE) exam has been approved. Additionally, a Texas Geophysics examination has been developed by TBPG for the discipline of Geophysics and it is available to take at the TBPG office in Austin. September 1, 2003: A Professional Geoscientist license (PG) is required to practice on and after this date.
