How are these three environments related? Wildlife-friendly buildings, landscapes and communities all have one thing in common in that they support life. These environments are all connected, from the water we drink to the air we breathe. Encouraging nature to live alongside us is similar to the way we’d prepare our home for a new baby- give them a safe and comfortable place to play, give them healthy food and clean water, protect them from chemicals and harm, and so on. When we make the world a more habitable place for ourselves then nature benefits as well. Bees are a good example of a society that has adapted well to us, though they are still wild. In our houses they’d be a disaster, but since we guide them to a good home and make an exchange with them, they give us honey and pollinate our foods.
