What are the JUNO Awards all about?
Named for former CRTC Chairman Pierre Juneau, the JUNO Awards are Canada’s version of the Grammy Awards. The origins of the JUNOs date back to 1970 when it was an exclusive industry only event. In 1975 the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) was established to organize the event and help produce its first national broadcast. Over the past decade, the JUNOs have travelled to many provinces and become a truly national celebration.
