What are the issues for Grayson County citizens?
People have lined up at the microphone during Public Comments sections of meetings for years now. Newspapers stories are written, and television reporters broadcast stories, too. Letters to the editor keep popping up. The Internet versions of news reports are followed with comments, mostly anonymous and some inflammatory. Private letters have been flying through the mail and advertisements for one side or another have appeared in the newspaper. At issue are: How big a jail does Grayson County need? Should the county or a private, for-profit business build and operate the jail? Should the old jail be remodeled and expanded downtown or should the county build a new one on 93 acres in northeast Sherman?
