In the Government’s response to the Children’s Workforce strategy consultation (Building a world-class workforce for children, young people and families, February 2006), the central importance of the social work and social care workforce was recognised t o the delivery of Every Child Matters: Change for Children. In July 2005, th e establishment of a joint review of the workforce was announced by Ministers in the Department fo r Education and Skills (DfES) and the Department of Health (DH), called Options for Excellence.
