PDSView should be installed on recent versions of the Windows operation systems with current updates and patches applied. Windows 2000 SP5 and Windows XP are the recommended operating systems. Minimal testing has been done on Windows Vista and Windows 7. The only known issue is that, by default, Windows Vista and Windows 7 do not support the help file viewer for the hlp files such as the one included with PDSView. More information on the help viewer including the download can be found by searching the Microsoft web site for “KB917607”. The PDSView installer adds files to “Program Files” directory and adds information to the “current user” and “local machine” parts of the registry. The account used to install PDSView must have write access to these areas. PDSView must be installed from the Administrator account or the user must be in the Power User group of your local PC or from an account with more elevated privileges than the default user or guest accounts.
