What are the initial costs of Kendo? Is it expensive?
The cost of joining Kendo is relatively inexpensive, particularly when compared with other martial arts. Spokane Kendo Clubs 8 week beginning class is $75. There are two classes per week for kids (8 10 years old), and three class times per week for juniors (11 and up) and adults. After kids learn the basics they can attend any of the five classes. The membershiip fee is the same regardless of how many classes you attend each week. Two types of practice swords are required for the beginner’s class; a hardwood sword (bokken $20.) and a bamboo sword (shinai $25.). The total of $120. is due before the beginning of the class to reserve a place in the class.
