What are the ingredients in DIATECT® products?
DIATECT® insecticides are made of diatomaceous earth, Pyrethrins, and PBO. Diatomaceous earth is the hard skeletons of ancient diatoms. To people, it looks and feels like a tan powder. To insects, it is so hard and sharp that it pierces their coating, causing them to dehydrate and die. Pyrethrins are oils distilled from the African Daisy chrysanthemum. This oil is one of the most potent known insect killers. To insects, it is a lethal nerve agent which, when they come in contact with it, causes instant and permanent paralysis. PBO, Piperonyl Butoxide, is a synthetic sassafras oil. While not an insecticide, it increases the effectiveness and the longevity of pyrethrins making our products more economically.
