What often surprises people about “affordable housing” is who qualifies for such housing. People who qualify for affordable housing reads like a list of essential occupations for every community including such occupations as school bus driver, grocery store clerk, retail sales manager, auto body mechanic, butcher, public school teacher, day care worker, fire fighter, insurance sales person, hospitality worker, janitor and waiter.
