What are the importers and manufacturers’ obligations for MSDS?
Manufacturers and importers of a ‘hazardous substance’ must prepare a MSDS for it. Employers, main contractors and self-employed do not have to do this. They should be able to obtain an MSDS from the supplier of the ‘hazardous substance’. Manufacturers and importers of hazardous substances must also: • ensure that the MSDS for a hazardous substance is available before it is supplied to the workplace; and • review and revise MSDS at least every five years or as often as necessary to keep it up to date.
