What are the important characteristics of a stud mounted installation?
Best efforts must be made to provide a flat, smooth, and even surface (spot facing) at the sensor machine interface. The tapped hole must be perpendicular to the mounting interface. Gaps between the sensor and the mounting surface due to poor spot facing and drilling and tapping techniques can significantly lower the mounting resonance of the sensor. In addition, poor thread cutting can reduce the strength of the stud mount allowing the sensor to be more easily knocked off the machine during routine maintenance.
