Under the SFWAHS Policy clients cannot smoke while receiving home service care. Agencies are encouraged to communicate the conditions of the new policy to their clients prior to 1 January 2008. Staff are advised to speak to their manager should they experience resistance from patients who continue to smoke in their home while they are present. If a patient does not refrain from smoking the home visit may be suspended.
