What are the implications of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive?

0

In May 2008 the Department for Communities & Local Government issued guidance on display energy certificates and advisory reports for public buildings. The University has initiated the production of certificates for its buildings with a floor area exceeding 1000m2. On the Canterbury campus 17 buildings require certification and a further two buildings on the Medway campus. These buildings have already been surveyed by accredited consultants who will produce the certificates using approved software. The certificates will be prominently displayed in each building. To comply with legislation new University buildings will require an energy performance certificate that will be issued when construction work is complete.
