8 A: Freshmen receiving the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship are required to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours during their first year of college. This includes any credits completed during J-term. All courses completed for the first time, whether letter-graded or graded on a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) basis, count towards the total.
